Originally called Joyful Way Singers, the group is a gospel evangelistic ministry born 50 years ago in Cape Coast when a group of teenage students heeded to the call to establish what is known today as Joyful Way Incorporated. The history of Ghanaian gospel music cannot be told without the recognition of the impact of Joyful Way Incorporated.

Brief History about Joyful Way Incorporated

It all began around October 1971 with the thought that was deeply impressed on the heart of Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Lartey to form a contemporary gospel music group while he was praying in the lower dormitory prefect’s room in the Balmer – Acquaah house in Mfantsipim School. This initially led to the formation of Noise of Joy involving students from Mfantsipim and Wesley Girls High School. Around the same time the evangels, the Hopefuls and Calvary Victory Voices had also began as  separate music groups involving other students from Mfantsipim, Adisadel College and Wesley Girls High School. The four groups merged to form Joyful Way Incorporated around the 15th January, 1972 guided by a single minded mission to proclaim the gospel of salvation through the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ and encourage revival among Christians. The major tool for evangelism is contemporary music and over the years the group has shared God’s word across the length and breadth of the country and beyond using this tool.

Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of the Board of the group, Mr. Samuel Ewool said; “50 years on, the adventure on this Joyful Way has been exciting and fulfilling laced with humbling stories and experiences worthy of sharing and also drawing lessons from our impact and legacy. We are therefore happy to announce that our jubilee celebrations will be under the theme, Joyful Way at 50; Our Story, Impact and Legacy.”
